Food & Tea @ Jusco JB

This place has been featured in some Chinese newspaper. I can’t remember which. It was my first time there. I tried on their Black Pepper Udon and sandwich. I think they poured half a packet of pepper inside the noodle. I’m not really a big fan of black pepper. So I would say the Udon is so-so. The sandwich taste better though. There were egg, ham and my favorite….bacon. Tried on their apple drink. I would say mineral water taste better that that. Anyway there’re still a lot more on the menu. Would go back and try on the other dishes someday

Uncle John @ Giant Melaka

This cozy café is located in Giant Melaka. I’ve tried their Special Egg toast which is actually served with Kaya. Quite filling. The Milk Tea was fabulous. Cost about RM2.30 for just a small glass. No wonder it’s good.

Sweetie Tong Shui @ Plaza Mahkota

There’re 3 Tong Shui branch in Melaka. And each branch serves different food and drinks. It was the first time that I’m visiting Sweetie Tong Shui located in Plaza Mahkota. And I totally fell in love with their Sour Plum Orange Juice, which I’ve learn to make it. It’s as easy as ABC. Back to the food. I saw that they have luncheon meat and egg noodle and of course I ordered it. It taste quite well, but the soup is too dark in color. Rendang rice is worth a try. A little salty but it still taste nice. Since it’s a Tong Shui shop, they should put up more variety of Tong Shui.

Menotti Singapore @ Raffles City

Located at Raffles City, Menotti serves a great selection of traditional Italian food and wine. Perfect place for drinking in the afternoon. Nice ambiance with friendly service crew. It could get a little noisy in the evening when the dinner crowd comes in.

Kim Gary @ The Curve

Every time I go to Kim Gary there’s a long queue outside. There’re a big selections of food to choose from. From rice to noodles to snacks to toast. And not forgetting about the drinks. I shall try the boiled coke someday. I wonder would the queue be this long If Bosco Wong isn’t the ambassador there.

Sakae Sushi @ Sunway

I’ve tried both Sakae Sushi in Sunway and The Curve. Seriously though if you’re going to Singapore one of these days, be sure to try their Sakae Sushi. Enough said.

The best thing in the menu.

Starbucks @ City Square, JB

I’m not a big fan of coffee. So whenever I frequent Starbucks, I would either order tea or juice. But this time I tried their Caramel drink which is basically vanilla plus a little caramel as decoration on top of the whipped cream. Nothing special. But my friend totally loves their huge, scary looking donut which is as big as my face. It tasted as if it’s fresh out from the oven. Very soft, very nice. I’m not sure if they sell it in other Starbucks as well. But if they don’t, head down to City Square, JB one of these days and try it out.

Steamboat @ Sunset Way, Singapore

Totally love this all-you-can-eat Steamboat place @ Sunset Way, Singapore. I forgot to take down the name of the restaurant though. But you can’t miss it. There’s only one there…I think. But anyway you choose to sit inside the aircon room where the cook will grilled your seafood for you or you can sit outdoors where you can play with the seafood yourself. We choose to sit outside that day. I totally love the concept of using charcoal to grill the food and it taste so much better. They also have cooked food. Totally love the soft shell crap. They have a huge selection of food which is quite fresh. We only tried half of it. Drinks are free flow. Going back there soon to try the other half. This place is value for money.

Grill your food.

I love it when we can split the soups.

Hikeng Restaurant @ Melaka Raya

Hikeng Restaurant Sdn Bhd
110, 111, 112 Tmn Melaka Raya, 75000 Melaka.

The last time I visited Hikeng Restaurant was about 7-8 years back when I attended my cousins wedding. The place still looks very much like the 80s. They should do some renovations. Food was quite good except for 3 dishes. The Black Pepper Deer Meat was too salty and overcooked. I had high expectation for the Shark Fins but it disappoints me. And Peking Duck on top of Keropok just doesn’t makes sense.

I would consider going back there someday when I feel retro.

Pak Poh and Rojak @ Bunga Raya, Melaka

Feeling hot in the afternoon? Head down to Bunga Raya, Melaka for some cendol. If you’re not a big fan of cendol, you can try their “Pak Poh”, cold drinks or ice cream. They have quite a few varieties there. If you’re feeling hungry you can try out their Rojak.

If you’re looking for some high class café, this is definitely not the place for you.

Long John @ Singapore

It was the first time I tried Long John’s breakfast meal. I ordered the Turkey Bacon set for $4.90. Seriously it was too much for me. A little bit on the oily side too. Still prefer Burger King breakfast.

Wings Café @ Melaka Raya

Wings Café previously known as Halo Café. Known best for their live singing every night. Heard a guy who sang quite well recently. Actually he sounded very much like Lin Jun Jie. I’ve tried their 2008 Valentine’s set meal which is a total failure. I’ve tried a couple of their snacks. The safest thing to order is fries and orange juice or any can drink. You can’t go wrong with that. Avoid ordering any ice blended drink with pearl. Go there for the music not the food.

Five Star Hainanese Cuisine @ Bukit Timah

You know how people like to eat chicken rice? Especially the thigh part?

That’s what I did on few days ago. Went to Five Star Hainanese Cuisine @ Bukit Timah. The place was quite empty. We ordered 2 plates of Chicken Rice with thigh part only and chicken liver. My friend took a bite of the chicken and complained that there’s a weird smell. My chicken tasted alright but the chicken liver taste bad.

My friend asked for the bill and complained that the chicken and liver tasted weird. He took the message and passed it to the lady behind the counter, which looks like the lady boss. She came over with the bill and asked us rudely ‘What’s the matter?’ We told her the chicken taste weird. She took the plate of chicken and walked into the kitchen. She didn’t apologize at all. No explanation given. We were even charged extra for the wet towel that we didn’t took. Bad food, bad service. This is definitely one place that I could skip for live.

Cook Book Asia @ Great World City

Saw this new Makan Place in Great World City. Cook Book Asia. Just by hearing the name, makes my mind wonder back to many delicious food. So my colleague and I decided to give it a try. The 3 of us ordered Laksa and drinks. We got a shocked when we view the receipt. One bowl of Laksa cost $5.90 not inclusive of GST. Drinks at $1.90 each. Totaled up each person have to pay $8.35. Mc Donald meal doesn't cost that much.

I ordered Coke but they mix up my order and gave me barley instead, which is tasteless. Laksa was also tasteless. The worst part was, halfway through the meal, my colleague found a hair in her Laksa. And believe me, it’s very long.

We told the person in charge there that we found a hair inside. He took the bowl and walked into the kitchen. Came back with a new bowl of Laksa few minutes later. Told us that there will be no black hair only white hair (which means the noodle). What kind of sick joke is that? He didn’t apologize about it but instead he could make fun out of it. We could see how ‘Professional’ he was. Every bowl of Laksa comes with 2 prawns. My colleague ate one. In her new bowl there was only one Prawn. So we’re wondering whether did they took the prawn from the old bowl to save cost....

Kim Heng Restaurant @ Tmn Merdeka

It was a brand New Year so I thought of treating my family to dinner. We went to Kim Heng Restaurant situated in Tmn Perindustrian Merdeka, Batu Berendam, Melaka. It was previously situated in Bachang Baru.

We ordered Salad Prawn as it was our favorite dish. To my horror i found a staple bullet in my Prawn. Luckily i notice there's something wrong with the prawn and spit it out instead of swallowing it. I complained the matter to 2 of the staff. One of them was the owner's daughter. They just stand there listening and walk away after i finished complaining. They didn't even apologized to me.

I was furious with their attitude and the treatment that i received. I asked for the billed and for the lady boss to attend to me. When i finished my complain she explained to me that it might be from the bait that the fisherman used. Since when does the fisherman used staple bullet as their bait? She even told me it might be due to the negligence of their kitchen staff.

This kind of things shouldn't happened at all. What if i swallowed the staple bullet? From her explanation it just shows that they do not clean their food throughly. I paid the full amount of the bill and left feeling disappointed and angry.

Definitely not a good place to eat at.
